After a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in the Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday, Cainiao, in collaboration with the Alibaba Foundation and partners from various sectors, immediately mobilized to deliver essential aid to the affected areas.
The first shipment of 100,000 emergency food supplies was dispatched without delay, overcoming challenging conditions to ensure it reached the disaster zone on time. Within just 7 hours, the supplies arrived in Dingri County at 2 AM on January 8.
Immediately after the first batch was delivered, Cainiao initiated the transport of a second round of critical supplies. With temperatures plummeting at night, providing thermal protection for residents became a top priority. Cainiao quickly coordinated with local teams in Jinhua to package and transport 10,000 thermal items purchased by the Alibaba Foundation. These were expedited to Hangzhou International Airport, where Cainiao worked tirelessly overnight with its partners to ensure fast air and ground transport to the affected area. The first batch of thermal gear is expected to arrive in Dingri County by January 9.
